Bandera: New Hot Spots!

If you’re planning a trip to the Cowboy Capital of the World, here are a few new ideas to check out:

  • Toucan Jim’s (Center Point): This tropical oasis offers wonderful fish tacos and other island-fare in the middle of Texas!
  • Random (Bourne): Visit Random for the beer garden, 80+ craft beers and ciders on tap, live music and outdoor fun.
  • Wineries in the Hill Country: Travel the Texas Wine Trail! With 52 wineries to choose from, this is a wonderful way to experience the Hill Country.
  • Bandera Natural History Museum: Dinosaurs, Ice Age animals, local birds and butterflies and an international collection of art exhibits make this edition to the area a not-to-be-missed event for the whole family.

Downtown Tuesday: Budget-Friendly Fun in San Antonio!

Tuesdays are a wonderful time to explore San Antonio, with many of the top attractions available for FREE! Here are some of our favorites:

The Witte Museum — Where Nature, Science and Culture Meet. This “everything Texas” museum is at the top of our must-see list! It recently underwent a 2 year expansion, and admission is free every Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Permanent exhibits include dinosaur skeletons, cave drawings and wildlife dioramas.

The Briscoe Western Art Museum. This museum celebrates the history and culture of the American West, and is free every Tuesday from 4:00-9:00 p.m.

The DoSeum. This is San Antonio’s museum for kids. It emphasizes learning through doing, creating and tinkering. And it’s free the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month!

The San Antonio Museum of Art. This museum offers a wide range of collections, and is located in a castle-like building formerly known as Lone Star Brewery. Admission is free every Tuesday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., and on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
