Summer in Tahoe

Summertime in Tahoe is full of wonderful events and activities! Here are a few things we always look forward to:

  • Harvey’s Summer Concert Series: Running from June through September, this year’s line-up includes Paul Simon, The Who, Jack Johnson, Lenny Kravitz and more!
  • Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor: Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy live theater right on the lake! This year’s plays include Love’s Labour’s Lost and The Hound of the Baskervilles, as well as other live entertainment.
  • Valhalla Renaissance Fair: Hosted at Camp Richardson June 10th and 11th, this year marks the 25th anniversary of this family-friendly celebration.
  • 4th of July Lights on the Lake Fireworks: Each year, Lake Tahoe puts on a spectacular fireworks show to celebrate the 4th. NBC’s Today Show calls it one of the top fireworks display in the country! Follow the link to find some of the top spots to view the event.
  • The Celebrity Golf Tournament at Edgewood: July 11th-16th, 80 pro athletes and Hollywood celebrities will compete in this ever-popular event on Lake Tahoe.
  • Hot August Nights: Celebrating America’s love of classic cars and rock ‘n roll, this year’s event will be held in Virginia City on August 4th-5th and Reno/Sparks on August 8th-13th.

A tour of the historic Virginia City or a Thunderbird Lodge Tour (by land, boat or kayak) might just round out those summer days… what are your favorite ways to spend summer in Tahoe?

Bandera in May & June

Planning a trip to the Bandera area for May or June? Here are a few of the many local events to consider:

  • Fiesta Noche Del Rio (San Antonio; Friday and Saturday nights from May 12th-August 12th): A summer outdoor performance on the River Walk, featuring the music of Mexico, Spain, Argentina and Texas. Since 1957, the show has been seen by over 1 million visitors from around the world, and raised over $2.75 million for local children’s charities.
  • Kerrville Folk Festival (May 25th-June 11th): An 18-day folk festival run annually since 1972.
  • Bandera Pro Rodeo (May 26-28th): A Memorial weekend rodeo in the cowboy capital of the world!
  • Rio Glow Hot Air Balloon Festival (Kerrville; June 2nd-3rd): This first-time event will feature tethered balloon rides, music, carnival rides and more, ending in a balloon light show and evening concert.
  • Texas Folklife Festival (San Antonio; June 9-11th): The biggest cultural celebration in Texas, celebrated annually for 46 years! Enjoy a wide variety of ethnic food, music, dance, arts and crafts.
  • Boerne Berges Fest (June 16-18th): Celebrate Father’s Day weekend with a family-friendly festival centered around the German heritage of the Boerne area.
  • Bandera RiverFest (June 24th): A family event on the Medina River with kayak races, paddles boats, music, a water rodeo and more!

Of course, Bandera offers its popular Cowboys on Main all summer long! (Saturdays, 1:00-4:00 pm)  Gunfights are at high noon and 2:00.

Looking ahead to holiday travels? Dickens on Main in Boerne (Thanksgiving weekend) is a wonderful way to kick-off the season, with horse-drawn carriage rides, a tree-lighting ceremony and a Saturday night concert.

Summer in Daytona

Daytona Beach Shores

Heading to Daytona Beach this summer? Here are a few local events to keep in mind:In town this week? Try the Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Flagler Avenue! It’s located on the New Smyrna Beach, just 20 minutes south of the Perennial Vacation Club resort.

If you’ll be visiting over Memorial Day weekend, visit the Lighthouse at Ponce Inlet. Explore historical exhibits and climb the tallest lighthouse in Florida.

Daytona Tortugas baseball season has started! Head over to Jackie Robinson baseball field — after the games, the kids are allowed to run the bases! Find the game schedule here.

Over on the boardwalk, enjoy the Daytona Beach Bandshell Concerts beginning May 26th (and stick around for the fireworks afterwards). Here you can find Santana, Kool and the Gang and Blues Brothers tribute bands, just to name a few! Find the schedule here.
