Cruise to Thunderbird Lodge

A unique way to explore Lake Tahoe, and one of its most historic estates, is to cruise a 1950 woody to Thunderbird Lodge. The cruise begins on the east shore, where the captain and crew will offer you a continental breakfast along with a fascinating history of this beautiful area. Once you reach Thunderbird Lodge, you’ll enjoy a walking tour of the estate, including the Thunderbird Yacht (one of the most valuable wood boats in the world), followed by a picnic lunch overlooking one of the most beautiful views you’ll ever see. Stay Cool in Bandera

Looking for ways to cool off in the Texas Hill Country? Here are a few ideas:

The Medina River is a wonderful place for tubing and kayaking. Contact the Medina River Company in Bandera or Bandera City Park (also a great place for picnicking and swimming) for more information.
The Red Cove Cafe and Marina on Medina Lake in Mico, Texas doesn’t allow swimming but has excellent burgers; Joe’s Place Marina and Resort offers swimming, fishing and picnicking.
Prefer a water park? The Flying L Ranch Resort (right in Bandera) has a small but fun water park, as well as golf, horseback riding and other activities.
The Boerne City Lake Park offers a fishing pier, 9-hole frisbee golf, a butterfly garden, picnicking and more.
Or visit the Kerrville Olympic Pool, which charges only $1 for admission and has a kids’ pool and high dive boards.
The Louise Hayes Park in Kerrville also offers a cute splash area.

Reminder: Tahoe Summer Road Repairs

Vacationing in Tahoe this summer? Extensive pavement repairs are currently underway throughout the Tahoe Village parking lots and streets. This means that RVs and trailers will not be allowed in the area from May through October. This will affect both our Tahoe Village and Eagles’ Nest resorts, so please keep this in mind when making your summer plans.

Start Planning: Fall in Daytona

Starting to plan your fall adventures? Here are a few of our favorite activities in Daytona:

October 17-20: Biktoberfest! This motorcycle rally draws over 125,000 visitors each year. Watch the pros compete, enjoy live music and more!
October 25-27: Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. This free event features classic cars and is celebrating its 12th year.
November 2-3: The Halifax Art Festival. In downtown Daytona, this festival features fine art and crafts, live entertainment, children’s events, fine dining and more.

Some year-round options include:

Daytona’s Farmers’ Market (held every Saturday).
The Casements, a Rockefeller home offering daily tours of the beautiful home and grounds.
The Halifax Harbor Marina Dinner & River Cruise. Be sure to book in advance! The food is very good, and now includes a kids’ menu.
