My husband and I have been to Bandera, Texas twice in December and I would describe it as “Amazing” ya’ll.
The air is brisk and fresh, the sky is beautiful and the town’s people are just as friendly & hospitable as always. Actually, anytime of the year is quite an experience in Bandera, The Cowboy Capital of the World!
We have made several good friends since our very first time there at Perennial Vacation Club Resort many years ago. In fact, we keep in touch with everyone, when we get back home, till our next visit.
To us, relaxation is the key factor for a vacay in Bandera. And I’m not talking about sitting around reading the paper with your feet up (but you can do plenty of that too lol), I’m talking about seeing nature, talking with the people who grew up in Bandera, going into the old-time Western shops, eateries, etc. It’s all a very laid back, relaxing community where nobody is in a rush….almost like you’ve gone back in time. The park in downtown Bandera with its majestic trees and green grass just begs you to sit down with a picnic lunch right in front of the Medina River. The River runs the entire length of the park. Many a picture have been captured here. Awwww makes me want to go back there right now!!!
There are so many things to do in and around bandera:
The River Walk in San Antonio is definitely a must in December! It’s about a 40 minute drive (or less) from Bandera, very easy to get to, and is just spectacular with all of its brightly colored lights. Thousands upon thousands of them! We were told that it takes the workers nearly 4 months to put up all of the lights just for the Holiday season….so you can just imagine their beauty. Definitely an awwww factor!
If you ever get the chance to visit Bandera in December…or any other time, please take my advice and just do it, you will not regret it at all. In fact you’ll probably go back time & time again just to visit all the friends you made during your first visit!
    Happy trails y’all
